Last week, the Humimic Biosystems team had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Biomed Engage Conference – Youth Edition at George Junior High School. This event brought together aspiring young minds and industry leaders to explore the exciting world of biomedical engineering. Our team was thrilled to engage with students, share insights about the field, and showcase how biomedical research is transforming lives.

As Lexi Applequist, Ph.D. candidate and CEO of Humimic, emphasized:
"As graduate students in STEM, effectively communicating our work and its significance is critical. However, many of us have only honed this skill in very technical settings, such as academic research conferences, with peers from similar fields. It is impossible to inspire the next generation and connect with our communities if we cannot explain our science in understandable terms. This conference provided a unique opportunity to enhance our scientific communication skills, enabling us to share our valuable research with the broader community."
Our team is deeply passionate about making science accessible and inspiring students to see the impact of biomedical innovations firsthand. Witnessing their enthusiasm and curiosity reaffirmed our commitment to advancing healthcare through groundbreaking research and development.
A special thanks to Amanda Walls and Adrienne Vaughan, two of the lead scientists working on Humimic's AirLOC platform, for sharing their expertise and engaging with over 400 students at the event. Their dedication to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of scientists is truly commendable.
At Humimic Biosystems, we believe that the future of science starts with education, curiosity, and opportunities like these. By fostering a love for STEM early on, we can help cultivate the next wave of innovators who will shape the future of biomedical engineering.
